Music- Kalafina

When I think about Fashion, I think about music. When I was a Lolita / kodona / Visual Kei back about 9 years ago, I was very influenced by the music scene. My friends and I would copy their styles no matter how outlandish it might be. So i think in almost every subculture there is a music scene that can influence the fashion as well.

When I first saw Kalafina, I immediately fell in love with their dressing and style. Kalafina is formerly a 4 girl band, now 3. They are Kubota Keiko, Wakana Otaki, Hikaru and a former member, Maya.

Their image sometimes varies from elements of dolly kei, mori gyaru and possible elegant gothic lolita. One of my favorite images of them has to be from Storia. It has that pirate wench feeling and also dolly kei and also abit of mori. All in all i think their style is really interesting.

So enough about their Fashion, lets here some of their music!

Hope you guys enjoy that!

Patent Leather and Chain Jacket, printed silk trousers. Patchwork lace leggings
Knitted Marabou and Chain coat. Silk devore dress (worn on arm) Metal belt (Worn as a headpiece)
and T-bar platform pumps with gilded heels.

Wool dress, nylon quilted jacket, wool bow ties, wool handwarmers
wool tights, and wool leg warmers.

The dolly kei / styles can also be inspired by this. There is lots of layering going on as well as fur. However wearing fur or faux fur would not be practical in the summer, so this is very ideal for autumn. I am looking forward to see dolly kei during other seasons!

Dolly & Mori kei Finds: HandMade Hair Piece + Owl necklace

This is a handmade hair piece that is perfect for Dolly Kei. It is usually worn mostly with a bob hair cut or a hairstyle with bangs which seems to be the favorite of dolly kei enthusiast.

Store: The paper doll shop (Singapore)
Price: $28 SGD

The idea is to look like a vintage antique doll and is often worn as a layered look. Also seen with Classical Lolita dresses or Gothic like dresses but a little different that it falls into Dolly Style category.

From what I've seen, the accessories are one of the key elements. The necklace pendants tend to be large in size. From large crosses to animal motifs to anything folklore related.

This necklace would be pretty ideal although in my opinion this suits more to the mori style fashion.

Store: The paper doll shop (Singapore) Or OPIA (Dublin, Ireland)
Location: 47 Mary street Dublin 1, Ireland
Price: $15 SGD

Lolita Gathering

First..."official" subculture post!

So it's been ages since i went to a Lolita meet and actually wear lolita...hahaha because past years , i was more comfortable wearing kodona. The one in purple is me and beside me is Zhen Teng. Admittedly i wanted to go there more Dolly kei but I guess I failed hahaha...but the hair piece i'm wearing is probably excellent for doing Dolly kei. The dress is by Mary Magdalene and everything else is offbrand :)

Also, once again, I was totally unrecognizable to the people that actually knows me. =_= The wonders of make up!

Mori Girl cheeks with CANMAKE

-credit: canmake

Having a hard time doing those round cheeks? Try CANMAKE's Cream Cheek base, works great for any mori girls!
It's long lasting and protects your skin from drying out. When i first came across this product, i knew it was so perfect
to use for mori girls and it's so easy to use, even if you don't know how to use make up.

I must be a misfit.

I don't know how many subcultures i've gone through...and I really don't stay long in one unless i feel comfortable in them. Maybe i should have the..ME subculture. XD

Current obsession: Mori Gyaru and Dolly Kei
